COASTER PARTY

So I was digging through the kitchen the other day, looking for some food. When all of the sudden, I stumbled upon some air freshener. So I wielded like a phallic object on my crotch, and shot febreeze all over the apartment. When I went to put it back, I noticed a set of four coasters. I actually had no idea what they were, since I don't use coasters, cuz I like it like that. But these coasters were no ordinary coasters. They had spots for pictures in them. So you could insert your own picture, into these coasters, and then set a beverage on them. Just frickin Ridiculous. But I had no idea what pictures to use. So I went to bed that night, when suddenly, I got the idea to use my OWN pictures. I yelled at my roommates to stop whatever it was they were doing and brainstorm with me. John and Kat and Alisa came up with the idea to use different "poses", the different "sides" of Nick. So we got out the camera, took off our clothes, and made some magic. The first picture was "bad" Nick. Where I have a cigarette and sunglasses and I am holding up a mighty fist. The second picture was John's idea and it was me in the shower covering myself barely with the shower curtain. I love this picture. Alisa shot me in the face with a squirt bottle that we use to shoot cats. I got soaked. After that we took the "nice" Nick pic, where I am holding a cat and wearing a carebear shirt, and dangling a little toy mouse in front of the animal. The last picture, was the more "studious" side of me, and I wore some nice shirt and a scarf and a vest. I held a book about infancy and a tea cup. There was some great pictures. Take a look:

Danny Boy "Any sign of him yet, Captain?"
Captain Ramirez "No Danny Boy, this Radioactive Giant Squid still evades me."
Danny Boy "Captain! Is that an inkblot over there? In the water! Look!"

The Captain still looks fervously through the binoculars in search of the inkspot. Danny Boy tries to point it out before tearing the binoculars away and showing him. Ramirez looks quizzically and then says:

Captain Ramirez "No Danny, that's no inkspot... That's a man!"

The Captain runs over to the side of the ship and looks down with his hands on the side

Captain Ramirez "Nets! Get the nets!"

Two unnamed sailors rush out with a net between them. Ramirez steps out of the way as the sailors cast the net into the briny sea. They shout "Heave! Ho!" As they lift the foreign object on the boat.

The sailors dump the net on the deck. A man in a silver jumpsuit, covered in sea weed falls out. The Captain says:

Captain Ramirez "Danny! Save that poor bastard! I'll not have a man die on my ship!"

Danny begins to pound the man's chest with one clenched fist. The man suddenly wakes up spewing water and coughing.

Nick, (Groggy) "Where am I?"
Captain Ramirez "Your on the good ship Luther, song. Your okay now."

Nick wearily tries to get up, but slumps back down onto the deck of the ship.

Captain "Hold there lad, the Weeping Sea still has her breath in yee."

The Captain grabs a fife from a nearby table and shoves it into Danny Boy's hands. Danny fumbles with the fife and holds it the wrong way, before the Captain corrects him.

Captain "Here son, let us play you an old sailing song, it might make you feel better."

They begin to play Sea Ghost by The Unicorns.

A Tour of Madison

This past weekend, me and my roommates decided to take a trip to Madison. It was me, my sister Kathleen, her boyfriend John, and my girlfriend Alisa. We borrowed John's moms car and headed out at around 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning. The car ride was uneventful. We listened to some music, watched the pretty Autumn trees and countrysides and talked about general things and obligations too mundane to put up on here. When we approached the city I insisted that we played "Sweet Jane" by "The Velvet Underground". I thought that the song was appropriate for the situation. I hadn't been to Madison since I was probably about 12 years old, and the city seemed completely new to me. The first thing I really noticed was how hilly it was, I loved the fact that it wasn't all flat and boring like most cities I have been too. The building are all very beautiful and have moss and vines growing all over them. The Capitol Building was simply breath-taking and we had to take some pictures of it. We went directly to State Street after parking the car and headed to the shops. You could spend a ton of money on useless junk at some of these places. But trinkets are always kinda nice to remember a trip by so be bought some of the crap. I bought Alisa a little music box that plays "Over the Rainbow", since she loves to play with them. Kat bought a dinosaur ice tray as well as a Space Invaders one. John bought Kat a hat and he got himself some sweet stuff but I don't remember what is was. I wanted nothing though, partially because I am low on the cash money but also because I don't get all pepped up over little trinkets anymore. I know their crap. We ate at Mad Dogs out of necessity since I christened myself with that name previously. They played classic rock music while we ate hot dogs and other phallic shaped meat products. I had a bratwurst, John had a Hebrew hotdog, and Alisa had a veggie dog. Kathleen had something too but I have no idea what it was. We took some pictures of me posing outside the joint. We kinda just hit the shops after that and we encountered my brother Keith and his girlfriend Dimitria while we were sitting on a bench. It was an odd coincidence because Keith lives in L.A. and he was taking a trip across the U.S.A. to see some sights. He eventually made it over to our part of the country and we were supposed to meet him at the house in Westby at around 6:00 P.M. But here he was, bearded and beautiful standing on the street corner talking to us. I don't think I'd seen him for a year before this so it was kinda weird. But he ate some sushi with Dimitria, and we went to the head shop called Pipefitters. That was one of the hot spots for my mom to take me when we took trips here for fun and leisure back in the day. I think that it is odd now that they don't identify people here even though they have smoking paraphernalia and what not. I am so used to being hassled for an I.D. wherever I go. Of course if you purchase something incriminating you have to show an I.D., that is just a given. John got an incense holder for his sister and we got out of there. We took another stroll around the Capitol Building before taking a trip to the car and heading out. Madison was a pretty fun time, although we didn't actually do anything in the sense of an event or a celebration. But it was good just to see something new and experience it a little bit.

Bruce Campbell, the man, the myth, the legend.

Bruce Campbell. The most underrated actor of all time. He had his first role in Evil Dead, playing Ash, the slayer of the chalk-faced, milk spewing demons of hell. He then starred in Evil Dead 2 and the famous Army Of Darkness. Since then his career as a b-actor has only been renewed at re-done in several other great purposefully cheesy horror and Sci-Fi flicks.
The Latest one I have had the chance to watch was My Name Is Bruce, where Bruce Campbell(playing himself) is a washed up actor who just got done filming Cave Alien 2. He is then kidnapped by some kid from a small town to save the townspeople from a crazed and ancient Chinese mummy who is pissed off because a bunch of Chinese people died in a mine about one hundred years ago. The people unknowingly mistake Brucey for a real life hero until he comes face to face with the beast and realizes that they are not just shooting a new movie. He runs away like a coward and ends up shooting three townspeople in his attempt to get away. He then steals a bike from a little kid and then a car from an elderly woman. Only to face his fears in the end and become the hero he has been made out to be.
Bruce Campbell's acting in every movie is absolutely superb. His facial expressions and his ability to throw around his limbs like they had a life of their own never ceases to amaze or amuse me. His lines are always memorable and his delivery is so funny, that you will feel an ache inside. Deep inside. But you better listen to it. Because it's your heart, opening on up, to Bruce Campbell.

Also check out these film stills when I was considered for the role of Ash in Army of Darkness.

Why I Love H.P. Lovecraft

H.P. Lovecraft is by far, my favorite horror story novelist and writer of all time. His stories hit a certain nerve with anyone who reads them. Most have to deal with the Cthulhu Mythos, which center around malevolent aliens that can shatter our feeble minds and ideals of reality just by viewing them. But there is more to his stories than just the aliens. His characters are always investigators who have had some encounter the macabre. They then have to discover and deal with terrors well beyond their wildest dreams.

Cthulhu is actually a minor god sent down from the stars and he inhabited the earth. He looks like a squid headed, bat winged, green, clawed hand man. That may sound like a lot of bullshit, and believe me it kind of is. But it's just the idea that one look at him can drive you mad that interests me. He reaches people who are sensitive and susceptible to this kind of occult sense by their dreams. He sleeps under the ocean but to quote the mad Arab Abdul Hazzred.

"That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die."

This pretty much sums up a little bit of the eerie crap that H.P. writes about. There is many elder gods and beings, all of which are evil and extremely powerful. Lovecraft doesn't use gore and thrills or any of that crap to scare the reader. He uses the power of the unknown. That out there, in the farthest corners of the world, lies an ancient, maddening evil, just waiting to kill us all.

My favorite H.P. Lovecraft stories:

Call of Cthulhu
Dagon
Shadows Over Innsmouth
The Lurking Fear
The Nameless City
At the Mountains of Madness
The Dunwich Horror

The Boy's Club - A Recollection.

I used to make videos all the time when I was a kid. I started when I was about ten years old with a webcam that came with my brother's computer. Since then I have made such great flicks as "Cocktail 2" and "Nick Against The Mole People". None could equal "The Neverending Story 4", which featured my friend Justin (Shown to the right, without the beard) covered in cotton balls and makeup. He was supposed to look like Falcor, the luck dragon from the series. But he looked more like some kind of coozed up gypsy tripping on acid on his way to burning man.

But I digress. Although the movies we made were great and whole idea of "The Boy's Club", a posse of young movie makers with a yearning to make it to big cinema was fantastic, we actually haven't made a movie in a long time. So this post will be directed towards generating movie ideas and plots.

1. Any kind of horror movie featuring an eight foot tall phallic object.

2. Any kind of action/comedy movie featuring someone who walks, talks, and acts like Kurt Russell. It will be called "Big Trouble In Little La Crosse".

3. "Nick Against The Mole People - Part Two". Since the first one was me fighting a cat, I think the second one should actually follow the plot that I gave out. Check this out:

"In this latest science fiction movie, Nick The Argonaut, must battle the insidious Mole People for his freedom from the slave pits of Angoria. He will meet many friends on the way such as Hara the Haughty Princess and Lolly the Dwarfed Giant. Come and enjoy the mystic adventure, NICK AGAINST THE MOLE PEOPLE!!!"

Okay, I know your shaking in your chair, holding onto the nearest small animal hoping that it will protect you from how great this movie could be. But don't fret, I probably won't end up making it because all my actors live back in my hometown and are into different things now. So, sadly enough, this blockbusting cinematic masterpiece of epic proportions, will never be shown in a theater near you.
