Bruce Campbell, the man, the myth, the legend.

Bruce Campbell. The most underrated actor of all time. He had his first role in Evil Dead, playing Ash, the slayer of the chalk-faced, milk spewing demons of hell. He then starred in Evil Dead 2 and the famous Army Of Darkness. Since then his career as a b-actor has only been renewed at re-done in several other great purposefully cheesy horror and Sci-Fi flicks.
The Latest one I have had the chance to watch was My Name Is Bruce, where Bruce Campbell(playing himself) is a washed up actor who just got done filming Cave Alien 2. He is then kidnapped by some kid from a small town to save the townspeople from a crazed and ancient Chinese mummy who is pissed off because a bunch of Chinese people died in a mine about one hundred years ago. The people unknowingly mistake Brucey for a real life hero until he comes face to face with the beast and realizes that they are not just shooting a new movie. He runs away like a coward and ends up shooting three townspeople in his attempt to get away. He then steals a bike from a little kid and then a car from an elderly woman. Only to face his fears in the end and become the hero he has been made out to be.
Bruce Campbell's acting in every movie is absolutely superb. His facial expressions and his ability to throw around his limbs like they had a life of their own never ceases to amaze or amuse me. His lines are always memorable and his delivery is so funny, that you will feel an ache inside. Deep inside. But you better listen to it. Because it's your heart, opening on up, to Bruce Campbell.

Also check out these film stills when I was considered for the role of Ash in Army of Darkness.

Why I Love H.P. Lovecraft

H.P. Lovecraft is by far, my favorite horror story novelist and writer of all time. His stories hit a certain nerve with anyone who reads them. Most have to deal with the Cthulhu Mythos, which center around malevolent aliens that can shatter our feeble minds and ideals of reality just by viewing them. But there is more to his stories than just the aliens. His characters are always investigators who have had some encounter the macabre. They then have to discover and deal with terrors well beyond their wildest dreams.

Cthulhu is actually a minor god sent down from the stars and he inhabited the earth. He looks like a squid headed, bat winged, green, clawed hand man. That may sound like a lot of bullshit, and believe me it kind of is. But it's just the idea that one look at him can drive you mad that interests me. He reaches people who are sensitive and susceptible to this kind of occult sense by their dreams. He sleeps under the ocean but to quote the mad Arab Abdul Hazzred.

"That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die."

This pretty much sums up a little bit of the eerie crap that H.P. writes about. There is many elder gods and beings, all of which are evil and extremely powerful. Lovecraft doesn't use gore and thrills or any of that crap to scare the reader. He uses the power of the unknown. That out there, in the farthest corners of the world, lies an ancient, maddening evil, just waiting to kill us all.

My favorite H.P. Lovecraft stories:

Call of Cthulhu
Dagon
Shadows Over Innsmouth
The Lurking Fear
The Nameless City
At the Mountains of Madness
The Dunwich Horror

The Boy's Club - A Recollection.

I used to make videos all the time when I was a kid. I started when I was about ten years old with a webcam that came with my brother's computer. Since then I have made such great flicks as "Cocktail 2" and "Nick Against The Mole People". None could equal "The Neverending Story 4", which featured my friend Justin (Shown to the right, without the beard) covered in cotton balls and makeup. He was supposed to look like Falcor, the luck dragon from the series. But he looked more like some kind of coozed up gypsy tripping on acid on his way to burning man.

But I digress. Although the movies we made were great and whole idea of "The Boy's Club", a posse of young movie makers with a yearning to make it to big cinema was fantastic, we actually haven't made a movie in a long time. So this post will be directed towards generating movie ideas and plots.

1. Any kind of horror movie featuring an eight foot tall phallic object.

2. Any kind of action/comedy movie featuring someone who walks, talks, and acts like Kurt Russell. It will be called "Big Trouble In Little La Crosse".

3. "Nick Against The Mole People - Part Two". Since the first one was me fighting a cat, I think the second one should actually follow the plot that I gave out. Check this out:

"In this latest science fiction movie, Nick The Argonaut, must battle the insidious Mole People for his freedom from the slave pits of Angoria. He will meet many friends on the way such as Hara the Haughty Princess and Lolly the Dwarfed Giant. Come and enjoy the mystic adventure, NICK AGAINST THE MOLE PEOPLE!!!"

Okay, I know your shaking in your chair, holding onto the nearest small animal hoping that it will protect you from how great this movie could be. But don't fret, I probably won't end up making it because all my actors live back in my hometown and are into different things now. So, sadly enough, this blockbusting cinematic masterpiece of epic proportions, will never be shown in a theater near you.
